I was responsible for managing the entire process, from site analysis and floor plan development to façade design and navigating complex regulatory requirements. My role also involved collaborating with clients and consultants to align functional and aesthetic goals while ensuring the project adhered to local building codes. Successfully obtaining the building permit was a critical milestone that showcased my ability to balance design innovation with regulatory compliance.
The project faced several constraints, including strict setback regulations and the requirement to ensure one hour of direct sunlight daily on the northern side. These limitations made the design process challenging, given the narrow site dimensions. To address these issues, I organized a regulatory hearing with Taoyuan City Government, involving architectural experts to propose solutions. This effort led to the project becoming the first in the city to bypass the northern sunlight regulation with a reduced 3-meter setback, setting a precedent for similar future developments. The experience demonstrated my ability to innovate within constraints, navigate legal challenges, and deliver a successful project that established a strong foundation for my career.
